Directions To Eads Colorado
And Kiowa County
The saying "you
can't go there if you can't get there" certainly does not apply to Kiowa
County. US Highway 287, which is the major north-south route
from the Rocky Mountains Region to Texas and points south, runs right
through the heart of Kiowa County.
Extensive improvements have been made to this major highway in the past few
years, and discussion is being held to further improve the route.State Highway 96 also crosses Kiowa County from west to east, intersecting with US Hwy 287 at Eads, the county seat of Kiowa County. While Hwy 96 is not as heavily traveled as Hwy 287, it provides easy access to those heading east from the Pueblo area. From Pueblo, travelers head east on Hwy 50 to the junction with Hwy 96, then take Hwy 96 eastward through the heart of Kiowa County. The
easiest route from the Denver area is to take Interstate 70 east to Limon,
then travel Us Hwy 287 southward from Limon to Kiowa County.
From Colorado Springs travelers can take Hwy 94 east until it ends at Hwy
287, then continue south on Hwy No matter what route is taken to get to Kiowa County, the traveler will enjoy the openness and freedom of the open prairie vistas and marvel at the ability to see "forever". Viewing herds of antelope or perhaps an eagle or two make the drive to Kiowa County even more compelling. The recreational opportunities upon arrival are endless, but getting to Kiowa County is a pleasure unto itself! |
