I came across your site looking for info on the dedication for April 07 for the Sand Creek Massacre This subject is very dear to my heart but I do not have the funds to get there i am in a wheelchair as well and that presents another problem I will try to get there this summer that is if we ever have summer in Colorado this year and by the way colorado people have no reason to be proud of the 3 men who are responcible for this masacre and should have never named a town after one of them

Feral Hogs is the Topic! I hear you folks have a population of them that you're not particularily interested in keeping. If that's true, I have a slew of fine shooting sportsmen / hunters that would love to fill their freezers with those pigs. If you have land that their on or read this and know of a rancher that wants to get rid of them, please email me their contact information or give them my email address. Thank you and yes, nice website! Brady Thomas

I have been waiting along time to see this happen when i lived in Denver (1980-85) i drove to where the Sand Creek Massacre took place i was so shocked to see what was their and old house and a bunch of wrecked cars i was so diappointed i got in touch with the Colorado historical society in return they told me to call a member of the White Buffalo Council which at the time i believe was Senator Campbell we talked quite awhile about Sand Creek. If i would have stayed in Denver i wanted to start a fund raiser to get a memorile for Sand Creek. Thanks for the wonderful news about Sand Creek.I will have to come out to the site because I'm moving back to Colorado.

A tragedy for mankind. How do we measure civilsation when we acknowledge actions such as these? Here in South Africa we have had similar incidents in our history and only through a process of amnesty and reconcilliation have the wounds finally begun to close. We need to search deep within ourselves and society and cast aside selfish prejudices and ill-feeings to others, before we can really call ourslves "Civilised".It is our own and God given responsibility to do so. Go well all you Americans.

Hello, nice website! I found it via Google, I searched for "kiowa" 'cos I'm looking for someone who is Kiowa and her name is Hattie Eisenberger. I met her here in Holland (where I live) at a Pow Wow performance in 1992/3. We've lost contact a few years ago but I'm still looking for her. Last time I spoke to her was 2 years ago at her work at Burger King in Flagstaff, when I called her. She lived there at the time. First she lived in Dennehotso. She's got (far as I know now)2 sons: George and Skyhawk (I guess)..Who knows her or knows where she is?? Send an email to me! Thanx!

Chuck, Concerning your post to the Kiowa County Guestbook which is below.....if you are trying to make people think you have been banned or some other evil thing, logic tells everyone that if you had been banned from the site, which you haven't, you would not have been able to post to the Guestbook either. I tested the Sand Creek Massacre Discussion Board and it seems to be working from this end which I informed you about last night in my email to you. I have not changed it in any way, so if there is a problem it is obviously on your end which I have no control over.

Good website. We are looking for a nice quiet lake of some size to boat on, and fish and water ski. We heard about "some lake" by Eads. Neenoshe is good sized. I am trying to figure out the depth and how much is usable, and if there are some beaches with trees that we could camp at. The town of Eads looks to have some good facilities, e.g. rv park, motel, car wash. - Rod Gartner

This is one of the best small government websites I have seen. However, I would suggest that you add some into on birding at the lakes in Kiowa County. Many birders travel to these lakes each year to view the wide variety of bird species and rarities that are provided. Many of these birders come down from Denver to Ft Collins and they could be an asset to your local economy. You may be aware that Audubon is working on developing the Colorful Colorado Birding Trail which will include many locations in SE Colorado including Kiowa County lakes. My name is Dennie L Anderson I'm currently living in Roseburg,Oregon I also lived at Lakewood,Colorado from 1980-85 I owned a business called Orleys Wood Stoves.I have deep love and respect for Native American Indian tribes. While living in Denver one weekend I took my two boys to Sand Creek,Beecher Island, and Summitt Springs battle sites. The one thing i will never forget is Sand Creek I remember driving to Chivington finding the little monument beside the road telling to drive 8 miles north 1 mile east and you will come to the Sand Creek Massacre site I couldn't believe what I saw when I arrived thier no mounument no nothing but a old house and a bunch of old cars I was furious to what I had seen.I drove back to Denver called the Colorado Historical Society and voiced my opinion they referred me to I believe was Senator Campbell who was the tribal chief of the White Buffalo Council we had a long discussion on Sand Creek well make a long story short my dream while i was in Denver was to have a mounument built for Sand Creek the White Buffalo Council said they would support me in what ever I decided to have done.I was essatic and overjoyed when I found out they were going to build a mounument at Sand Creek it brought tear's to my eye's.finally my vision and dream was coming true.I only wish I could be thier to watch all this happen. What can i do on my behalf to see this mounument be built. My work phone number is 541-440-3417 my cell phone number is 541-680-3517 my address is 111 NW General Avenue Roseburg,Oregon 97470.Again congradulations and thank you SO MUCH for this wonderful new's. Your website is designed wonderfully and it provides great information on the status of the Sand Creek Massacre NHS. That date is one of the saddest days in the history of our country--clearly ranking up there with 9/11. Last May, I was in Denver on business and drove to the site, only to experience disappointment that I couldn't visit it and pay my respects. I look forward to the day when I can return to the site, pay my respects, and enjoy silence with the spirits that remain there. Alexa, thanks for your dedication and persistance. Keep up the good work!
